Sean McVay is an American professional football coach serving as the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL as of January 2025. McVay led the Rams to Super Bowl LIII in 2018 and achieved a victory in Super Bowl LVI in 2021. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 24, 1986, and attended Marist School in Brookhaven, Georgia, where he played as a quarterback and defensive back for the War Eagles high school football team. After graduating from high school in 2004, he committed to playing college football at Miami University.

Sean McVay was widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers during his college career. He played college football for the Miami Redhawks at Miami University from 2004 to 2007. After completing his playing career in 2007, McVay received the Miami Scholar-Athlete Award that same year. He graduated in 2008 with a B.S. in Health and Sports Studies. Sean McVay is married to Veronika Khomyn. After years of dating, the couple got married in 2022. They welcomed their first child in October 2023.

McVay, at 30 years old, became the youngest coach in modern NFL history. As of January 16, 2025, McVay holds a career record of 88–56 (.611) as a head coach, which includes a regular season record of 80–52 (.606) and an outstanding postseason record of 8–4 (.667). McVay holds several NFL records as he became the youngest head coach in NFL history at 30, the youngest to reach the Super Bowl at 33, and the youngest to win the Super Bowl at 36.

Washington Redskins/Washington Commanders (2010-2016)

Sean McVay joined the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders) in 2010 as the assistant tight ends coach under head coach Mike Shanahan. He became the tight ends coach in 2011 and finally was promoted to offensive coordinator by Jay Gruden in 2014. He coached and prepared Fred Davis, DeSean Jackson and Kirk Cousins during his tenure with the team.

Florida Tuskers (2009)

Sean McVay also worked in the United Football League (UFL) by joining the team Florida Tuskers in 2009. He was a quality control and a wide receiver coach for the team. He helped the team achieve a win-loss record of 6-0 before losing in the first championship game of the league (via the official website of Rams).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2008)

Sean McVay started his NFL coaching career with this team in 2008 as an assistant wide receivers coach. He served under head coach Jon Gruden. He coached and prepared wide receiver Antonio Bryant during his tenure.
